We collect as little as possible: just your email address if you choose to subscribe or write to us.
Who we are
100acrespotlight.com is the website of C.R. Lang and 100 Acre Spotlight (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
The short version
You can read every story, article, guide and template without an account and without giving us any personal information. We collect personal information only if you sign up for the newsletter or contact us. We don’t run ads, we don’t use tracking or analytics cookies, and we never sell or rent your information.
Information we collect
Newsletter signups. When you subscribe, we collect your email address. We use it to send you a welcome email and our monthly newsletter (new stories, articles and book news), and nothing else.
Messages you send us. If you use the contact form or write to [email protected], we receive your name, email address, company if you give one, and your message. The form delivers it to our inbox by email. We use it only to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
Technical information. Like every website, our hosting provider automatically receives basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, not to build a profile of you.
Services that help run the site
We use a small number of trusted providers, each of which handles information only to provide its service:
Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it from attacks, and routes email sent to our address. Resend stores newsletter subscribers and sends our emails. Google serves the website’s fonts (Google Fonts) and hosts our email inbox. Each has its own privacy policy.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Your browser may remember small preferences, such as which tab you last viewed, on your own device only.
The Follow along page can show feeds from Facebook and Pinterest. These load only if you click to show them, and once loaded, Facebook or Pinterest may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Share buttons simply open the chosen site in a new tab; nothing is sent to them until you click.
Links to other sites
Pages such as Helpful links point to websites we don’t control. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies before sharing information with them.
How long we keep information
We keep your email address for as long as you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you won’t receive any further newsletters, and you can ask us to delete your address entirely. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to deal with your message.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter, or by emailing [email protected]. You can also ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, or the European Union and United Kingdom), you may have additional rights under local law, such as the right to object to processing or to complain to a data protection authority. We’ll honor those requests wherever they apply. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for the newsletter and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to subscriber information is limited to us and our email provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting subscribers will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
